Carmax inventory3/31/2023 ![]() So how does the process work when you sell your car at CarMax, and is it a good idea? We set out to find the answers. If you’re buying a car at CarMax, trading one in through the retailer will likely be your most convenient option. One popular place is CarMax, which is the largest used car retailer in the United States. Whether it’s because you want a new car or because you no longer need a vehicle, you’re probably wondering where you should get rid of your wheels. “The chip shortage looks like it’s going to be longer than what people originally thought,” Nash said.So you want to sell your car. Earlier this month, General Motors said eight of its 14 North American factories would go temporarily dark because of the shortage and as of the end of August, the number of available cars, both new and used, had fallen by one-third year-over-year, according to Bloomberg Intelligence. Read more: UK Online Car Retailer Cazoo Projects $1B in Revenue by the End of 2021Ĭontinued growth for any car retailer, though, relies on the continued availability of inventory, which is far from guaranteed as the semiconductor shortage continues to plague vehicle manufacturers. Alex Chesterman, OBE, founder and CEO of Cazoo, said in a news release that he expects the company to reach $1 billion in revenue by the end of 2021. In the first half of 2020, Cazoo sold just over 4,000 vehicles. See: Carvana Revenue Up 200 Pct As Used Cars Remain HotĮarlier this week, Cazoo Holdings, a U.K.-based car marketplace, said its revenue was up 521% year over year, selling over 20,000 cars during the first half of the year. Last month, Carvana reported that its revenue was up nearly 200% in the second quarter compared to the same period last year after it sold more than 100,000 vehicles for the first time, up 96% versus the second quarter of 2020. Wholesale profit per unit was $1,005, an $81 per-unit decrease compared to last year.ĬarMax’s second-quarter results follow a series of strong earnings from other online sellers of used cars. “We’ve intentionally built our omni-channel platform to give every customer the ability to progress to a sale or buy regardless of how they shop with us, which will enable sustainable growth and create meaningful long-term shareholder value,” the CEO said.ĭespite higher sales, CarMax’s gross profit per used car sold fell to $2,185, down 1.3% but still in line with historical performance, the company said. Nash told analysts that CarMax remains on track to bring a fully self-service online experience to all retail consumers by the end of the fiscal year. Nash said approximately 9% of retail sales occurred online, up from last year’s share of 3%, and 55% were omnichannel, meaning that at least one part of the purchase experience occurred remotely. Retail sales increased 6.7% to nearly 231,800 vehicles, and wholesale sales increased 41% to approximately 188,100 vehicles, an all-time quarterly record. The company sold a total of 419,895 of cars through both its retail and wholesale channels, up nearly 20% year over year. Officially, CarMax recorded net revenue of $8 billion, up nearly 49% compared to the second quarter of 2020, primarily because of higher selling prices. In the second quarter, CarMax purchased a total of 364,263 cars, up 59% year over year approximately 188,000 were purchased through online instant appraisal offerings. “It certainly has been a headwind,” Nash said.įor CarMax, this means a heavier reliance on its new online instant appraisal feature, launched in February and already used to purchase 350,000 cars from consumers. The company typically builds up its inventory early in the year, but it wasn’t able to do that because of disrupted new vehicle production and record sales in the spring. President and CEO Bill Nash told analysts on a conference call the issue isn’t CarMax’s ability to acquire cars but rather continued fallout from the impacts of COVID-19. Used car dealership chain CarMax said its inventory remains about 30% lower than it expected and down 15% year over year, cutting into vehicle availability but not yet impacting the company’s sales.

Grid notebook3/30/2023 “No bleed-through, no feathering, and ghosting ranging from nothing to ‘if I strain I can just make it out.’” ![]() “I’ve tried everything from pencil to the wettest fountain pen on this paper and can happily report that the paper withstands everything,” one user writes. That means the ink doesn’t bleed through. “The paper is of a quality approaching that of the expensive wedding invitations you regretfully passed up,” one says. No matter your profession though, the paper quality got most reviewers’ attention. An engineer says, “I also love using graph paper as I find it easier to both write and draw on the same sheet, while also having rough guidelines for scaling a design,” and it seems to be favorite among architects, too. ![]() One reviewer thinks this notebook is “handsome and sturdy enough to house your Will, or your very best poetry,” but more than a quarter of reviewers just like it for the grid lines on the paper, which “are visible but sufficiently light to allow writing, artwork, notes to appear without the visual chaos of some notebooks’ too-dark grids,” another reviewer explains. No other notebook would survive half of that as well as this has.” Reviewers also point out that ink does not bleed from page to page, even when writing with fountain pen, and according to former Strategist writer Hilary Reid, who tested a larger version of this notebook, the page quality is “excellent and has that classic Bavarian-cream color of all Moleskine pages.” Besides being an ordinary notebook, It also has been used as a writing surface, a lunch tray, a bug squisher, a sun shield, a weapon, and everything else between. Another admits theirs is now completely destroyed after two and a half years of use, but it was a tough time: “During that time, this notebook had many ‘roles’ kicking around the cab of my delivery van. “The exterior cover is made of a solid material that has resisted water spillages in the past,” one writes. “Reasonably priced, archival paper and sturdy enough to put up with being stuck in backpacks, overnight bags, sketch kits and dragged all over the planet on my travels.” A main selling point of these classic notebooks is how well they hold up over time. Strategist editors are long-time fans of Moleskine notebooks, as are many Amazon reviewers.“I have been keeping sketchbooks and journals for over 30 years and have never found anything better than Moleskine,” one writes. Nearly 10 percent of five-star reviewers use this Minimalism Art for bullet journaling, a handful of whom specifically write that the notebooks are not only “less expensive than Moleskine and Leuchtturm hardcover notebooks, but actually of better quality! Thicker pages (no ghosting), leather-like cover, back pocket, elastic closure, ribbon bookmark - it’s all here!” Another previous Leuchtturm user agrees that the quality of this Minimalism Art notebook is “just as good or maybe even better” than our pick for the best-rated bullet journal, and a third reviewer adds that it has all the same features of premium bullet journals for a fraction of the price: “This is the kind of journal that feels so nice it’s intimidating the first time you write in it, but at the price it’s affordable.” Over 100 other customers comment on the soft-yet-sturdy feel of this notebook, including one self-described “incredibly picky” notebook user who describes the paper and cover as “so sturdy and soft, like straight-up luxurious feeling, all for under 10 bucks.” “Elastic keeps the cover closed so my enemies can not see my plans to destroy them.” In addition to its no-bleed, sturdy paper, the outside of this notebook is pretty durable too, “even when jostled around in the trunk of a car with hostages,” one reviewer jokes. ![]() The writing experience is smooth and the size is perfect to keep in a suitcase, bag, jacket pocket (large) or hand-carry.” Another writes, “Ghosting can be seen on the back of papers, same as Leuchtturm 1917 papers, but zero bleeds through, same as Leuchtturm 1917 papers.” Compared to the Moleskine, “There is no real difference in quality, the paper feels the same and there is a back pocket,” according to another reviewer. “It has the same high quality hardcover and binding of notebooks twice the price,” one says, adding, “The paper is just the right shade of off-white and thickness so that ink does not bleed. More than 20,000 reviewers give this Amazon Basics notebook a five-star rating, with the majority describing it as a quality notebook for a good price. Mary somerville3/30/2023 ![]() In this book, Somerville described the pull of gravity on the surface of the sun and planets, the pull of gravity on Earth, determined by the period of a pendulum, and a solution to a problem that stumped Kepler, finding the true anomaly of an orbit, or the angle between the direction of the periapsis and the current position of the celestial body. In 1831, Somerville would publish Mechanism of the Heavens, a 700-page tome describing the entirety of celestial mechanics. The first new planet, along with the discovery of Ceres and other main belt asteroids in the 1800s, would provide astronomers with a wealth of data to catalog, new planets to find, and new discoveries to be made. This opportunity would arise in the late 1700s with the discovery of Uranus by William Herschel. There was a lack of a truly predictive quality to this science, though what discoveries could be made with this new-found knowledge? Following the publication of Newton’s Principia, the observations of Kepler and Brahe, men of science had become very, very good at measuring and tracking the motions of the planets. The history of physics is in part the history of astronomy. Mary Somerville was a woman and an interdisciplinarian, and the word ‘scientist’ was created for her. Somerville, and, truth be told, the men of science of the day each filled a particular niche Faraday was interested in electricity, Darwin was a naturalist. The term used at the time, ‘a man of science’, didn’t apply to Mrs. The word itself was created by William Whewell, reviewing The Connexion of the Physical Sciences by Mary Somerville. The word ‘scientist’ wouldn’t come into vogue until the 1830s. None of these men were ever called ‘scientists’ in their time the term hadn’t even been coined yet. Robert Hooke was a naturalist and polymath, and Newton was simply a ‘man of science’. Antonie van Leeuwenhoek was simply a man with a proclivity towards creating new and novel instruments. Benjamin Franklin wasn’t a scientist probing the mysteries of amber and wool and electricity and ‘air baths’ he was a natural philosopher. ![]() Science, as a concept, is relatively new. Calculator google3/30/2023 ![]() (Just click the “options” link at the bottom-right of the calculator popup and select the respective theme from the list) Select between black or white calculator and the original “3d buttons” calculator. You can change the design theme from the options page. To make this one better, we added 3 different “themes” for you too choose from. Scientific or not, a calculator needs to be convenient and nice to look at. Radians and degrees calculations supported. Of course, here are the good old memory buttons (M+, M-, MR, MC) and you can use the copy/paste functionality too (that’s why the calculator requires copy/paste permissions)įinally, the scientific calculations supported are: square root, cube root and general root calculator exponent (Power) operators (3 buttons for power calculation: ^2, ^3 and ^x) addition (+), subtraction (-), multiplication (*), division (/) It is, however, still work in progress, so let me know if you find a bug, if some calculation isn't working or if you want to see new feature added.Īs one would expect, the “usual suspects” are all here: The initial goal of this calculator was to be a real-life example of jQuery Mobile (and it worked as such) but somehow, with the time, more calculations were added and it became full-featured scientific calculator. The advanced ("scientific") functions are not yet accessible with keyboard shortcuts (but better keyboard support is planned for the next releases). On devices with keyboard you can use the obvious keys: number keys, dot (floating point), +, -, *, /, Enter (=), ESC (C) and Backspace. All in all this calculator app will give you little more info for the current/previous calculation but it is still a calculator and not a formula processor or equation machine. The app is based on the so called “scientific calculators”, which means it comes with many “advanced” functions (trigonometric, logarithmic, exponential, etc.) But the way that calculator works (different than standard calculators and showing both left and right operand at the same time) means that if you have an operation entered (for example: 5 * 6) and tap some unary operation button (for example the square button) the operation will be performed on the second operand (in our example 6 will become 36). The calculator was made with touch-screen in mind and should be ready for touch-screen chromebooks. For example - if you type 2 + 2 you'll see exactly "2 + 2" until you press "=". What makes this calculator unusual is that you can see both sides of the current binary operation. This is kinda unusual scientific calculator. Looking ahead, it’s now possible for Google to make changes to the Calculator app separately from updates to Chrome OS as a whole. One different scientific calculator (desktop version). Otherwise, it’s the same app you’re used to. One notable downside, as mentioned by 9to5Google readers on Twitter, is that the app now has a minimum width that is a fair bit wider than was previously necessary. Despite the fact that the app is now online, it’s fully functional when offline thanks to the technology of Progressive Web Apps.īroadly speaking, Chromebook owners shouldn’t notice any major functional differences with their new Calculator. When you launch Calculator, you’ll now briefly see the URL where Google is hosting the web app - in the app bar. For example, the Chrome Canvas app, which lets users draw and create simple artworks with their Chromebook, is hosted fully online rather than being pre-installed or downloaded from an app store.Ĭhrome OS’s Calculator is the latest app to make the jump to fully online, starting with the recently released Chrome OS version 97. In the last few years, Google has been moving away from native apps like these on Chromebooks, opting instead for formal web apps where possible, as well as apps for Android and Linux. The app starts off with a simple layout for addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, and can be expanded to reveal tools for geometry and trigonometry. It’s built with Web technology but is a native app, pre-installed with Chrome OS. Google has rebuilt Chrome OS’s built-in Calculator app, making it available for all devices, not just Chromebooks.įor years now, Chromebook owners have been able to use Google’s free calculator app. Tormentum dark sorrow screenshots3/30/2023 ![]() ▪ PUZZLES: During your journey you will come against 24 varied logical puzzles and minigames. Effects of bubble gum strain3/30/2023 ![]() This gives it a weird blend of both excessively tall, yet surprisingly thick stalks. However, something to keep in mind is that it has a typically hybrid growing style. They are pretty easy to plant and grow and don’t require too much individual information. Strawberry Bubblegum strain seeds are available pretty commonly online, and rarely from local dispensaries. If you want a chance to grow the bud yourself, what kind of specialized knowledge do you need to have to be able to grow Strawberry Bubblegum? Strawberry Bubblegum Strain Grow Info It is also extremely resinous, so much so that it seems to practically drip off of the bud. There are also plenty of frosty trichomes that cover the bud, giving a great indication of its intense flavor. There is a considerable quantity of orange hairs that have an almost unheard amount of thickness. It is dainty and small, looking almost like a piece of popcorn covered in fluff. The appearance of the buds of the Strawberry Bubblegum strain is surprisingly candy-like. It is not in any way unpleasant, though, and it makes you feel like you have just bought some flavorful strawberry candy as a ten-year-old. The flavor of bubblegum is a bit weird if you aren’t expecting it, though, giving you this sort of childish and impossible to describe feeling. However, that touch of general and unspecific berries is also extremely noticeable, giving you a delicious flavor profile. You get a big burst of sweetness and some tasty strawberry flavors that taste like strawberry candy. ![]() FlavorĪs you light up your Strawberry Bubblegum bud and its smoke fills your mouth, you will straight away get the same profile as the aroma. There is also a touch of earthiness just at the edge of awareness, which gives it an entirely new level of depth as well. There is also a vaguely non-descriptive smell of plain old bubblegum, which is pretty hard actually to specify. It is definitely like strawberries, but almost more of a distilled strawberry taste, almost as if it is in its most pure form. If you have never experienced the vibrant smell of a freshly unwrapped stick of strawberry bubblegum, it will likely seem like an artificial, slightly odd smell. It offers up a vast mix of both lovely berries and strawberry bubblegum. The aroma of the Strawberry Bubblegum strain is, unsurprisingly, linked to its name. Just like how the memory of pure bubblegum flavors reminds you of a simpler, calmer time, so too does the Strawberry Bubblegum strain remind you of your childhood. Predictably created by crossing the Strawberry and the Bubblegum strains, this is a strain packed with great tastes and a surprisingly good list of effects as well. The Strawberry Bubblegum strain is one of those hybrid strains that manages to perfectly balance its indica and sativa content. ![]() Let’s take a closer look at this strain to find out if it has more to it than just a great flavor. With a taste right out of your childhood dreams, this scrumptious strain is worth it just for its flavor alone. If you are one of these simple flavor lovers, then Strawberry Bubblegum is for you. Some people even actively look for strains that have a childish flavor profile. Some cannabis users want a simple, basic flavor profile that is uncomplicated and inoffensive. Some people even compare certain strains to whiskey or cigars, with subtle flavors that develop over time. These flavors are more sophisticated, with intriguing tastes that allow you to dwell on them and experience them slowly and appreciatively. Certain strain flavors are designed to appeal to adult audiences. In fact, this process can be catalyzed entirely by good intentions. Losing yourself in a relationship isn’t necessarily a reflection of an unhealthy relationship. In other words, we lose ourselves when we allow someone else to determine who we are (even when that someone else is someone we love very much). When you lose yourself in a relationship, often it’s because the contribution your role in the relationship makes to your identity is disproportionate to the contribution of all the other things that make you who you are. Embedded in a social role are the standards, meanings, and expectations associated with it, which ultimately contribute to identity construction (Eifert et al., 2015). Causes of Losing Yourselfīeing part of an intimate relationship is accompanied by the assumption of a social role such as companion, partner, or spouse. This leaves us feeling distant or disconnected from ourselves-like we’re losing ourselves. When we lose one of our pillars of self we’re left with a void in our identity and buckling of the structure that mediated our interactions with the world. Taking a high-level approach to understanding the term, ‘self’ can be used to refer to two experiential themes : (1) Our bodily self that is the center of our first-hand experience of the world, and (2) our narrative self that weaves together our history, experiences, interests, social roles, relationships, values, and aspirations into a fluid but coherent identity (Milliere, 2017).Įach of these elements around which our identities are organized provides a set of behavioral standards and expectations, a sort of framework that helps shape our actions and perceptions (Eifert et al., 2015). The self is a cryptic term that we use to refer to multiple facets of our existence as a human.
